Meet Holmes:
"We are so grateful to have Holmes in our life, not only is a he a sweet and loveable pet, but he is a peanut/nut sniffing fool. I have come to learn that I cannot trust many companies when I call to ask if an item is safe for my daughter to eat, they just don’t get it. Now I don’t have to worry, we have Holmes, he has hit on items countless times that I have been assured is safe….I don’t trust the companies, I trust Holmes…he has never been wrong.
This Christmas we received a package in the mail from a family member that is very aware of our daughter’s allergies and is also a medical professional. Holmes hit on as soon as I opened it (without even doing a search.) It turns out that while our relative was packing the gifts they were eating a candy bar with peanuts in it.
The first time I took Holmes in to school the staff was very skeptical. When we came upon the very first staff member within seconds he sat down and indicated on the staff member. Sure enough, she had eaten peanut butter for breakfast and she was instantly in awe of Holmes.
Holmes loves when we have guests because he loves to check them out before he lets them in the house. He is so smart that he knows to check the shoes first where he almost always finds something, and goes for the cell phone second.
One day Holmes kept sitting in front of me and I kept telling him what a silly dog he was, I don’t have any nuts on me. The next day as I went to put my conditioner on I glanced at the bottle and noticed that it had Macadamia nut oil in it; it was a sample pack I had also used the day before. I always read hair care and body products before I buy them but I must not have checked out this sample first. So, not silly dog, silly me, he had been trying to tell me all along." -- The owner of Holmes
Holmes' owner on their experience with Leslie (allergy detection dog trainer):
"When I went to get my peanut detection dog I was very nervous and anxious, but the moment I met Leslie I was instantly at ease. She is so kind and patient with not only the dogs she trains, but the people. She was so kind to me during my training, she answered every question I asked and never grew tired of my endless questions. I think the thing that stood out to me about Leslie more than anything else is that she is not in this for the money, she truly believes in what she is doing and she genuinely wants to help children with allergies to lead a better life. She is open and honest about everything; she does not just tell you what you want to hear, she tells you the truth, what you need to hear.
Leslie is very empathetic, she knows what life is like for families dealing with allergies and she trains her dogs to help make our lives easier. Even months after bring my dog home Leslie is always willing to help and answer any questions I may have. The other thing that really stands out about Leslie is how much she loves every dog she trains, you can just see how much she adores them and she always treats her dogs with respect and kindness. She puts so much love in to her job that at the end of the day you can’t help but end up with an amazing allergy detection dog.
The best part is that Leslie never sees one way of doing things, she is always open to seeing different ways of doing things and she is always looking for better ways to do what she does, always on the search for the way to train the best detection dog. I know that whenever I meet anyone who may one day be interested in a detection dog Leslie’s name is the only one I will ever give them, and I would never get another detection dog unless it was trained by Leslie!" -- The owner of Holmes
